This research shows that the irregularity is shown in the novel by Gypsies who live their lives as nomads. By making use of socio-historical criticism approach, it is found that the Gypsies, who are living in the medieval era is portrayed by Hugo as people who are characterized by their irregularity and illegality of existence. It is a novel that tells about the Gypsies who are also widely known as the Romani people. The main data of this research is The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1831) novel authored by Victor Hugo.
